The popularity of BTX injection has grown rapidly since the 1990s, and it is now one of the most commonly administered procedures in the world. Apart from aesthetic reasons, BTX may be used for the treatment of scars, excessive perspiration in the hands and underarms and muscle contractures.
The following areas may be treated with high degree of satisfaction:

Age-related loosening and thinning of the skin and subcutaneous fat causes reduction of the distance between the skin surface and the underlying facial muscles. Wrinkles are the result of repeated facial muscle action causing traction on the skin. Age-related skin laxity in the forehead results in descent of the forehead and upper eyelid skin resulting in obstruction of the upper eyelid. The forehead (frontalis) muscles subconsciously attempt to elevate the eyebrow to relieve the visual obstruction. Chronic hyperactivity of this frontalis muscle leads to deep horizontal forehead lines.
Men have thicker and stronger facial muscles that exert more traction force, whereas women usually have thinner facial muscles. Consequently, men generally have fewer but deeper wrinkles, whereas females tend to have multiple shallow wrinkles. In general, men generally require fewer injection points for BTX, but with higher doses delivered at each point. Intimate knowledge of the differences in anatomy and aging mechanisms between genders, while administering gender-specific treatment, delivers natural-looking, optimal, and bespoke outcomes.
BTX is a protein produced by the Clostridium bacteria, and subtype A is used for aesthetic purposes. It is a neurotoxin and prevents transmission of nerve impulses from the nerve to the muscle, causing muscle paralysis. When administered in an appropriate dose and manner, BTX administration will efface wrinkles while retaining emotional expressivity.
BTX requires reconstitution with saline prior to usage. Experienced practitioners customize the dose and dilution of the toxin to achieve desired effects in different parts of the face and in different individuals. Near-painless treatments are possible at Picasso Plastic Surgery with the use of a proprietary pain distraction device at the time of injection.
We frequently see or hear of people who look unnatural following aesthetic treatments. This is often due to practitioners who attempt to reverse all the signs of aging by using BTX alone, resulting in stiff and unnatural results. BTX effaces wrinkles by partial weakening of the frontalis muscle but does not reverse skin and muscle laxity or fat atrophy.
Attaining bespoke and attractive results that retain an individual’s expressivity is frequently possible and requires accurate assessment, appropriate product choice, precise administration by an experienced practitioner.

Delivering effective and safe treatments are the cornerstones of our philosophy at Picasso Plastic Surgery. The clinic uses only products obtained from licensed distributors.
Individuals with minimal skin laxity respond best to BTX injection. Individuals with the following conditions: previous allergic reactions to BTX, neuromuscular disorders (e.g., myasthenia gravis), intention to get pregnant or breastfeed, and treatment with medications require assessment before proceeding with treatment.
Our plastic surgeons are experienced BTX and filler injectors and are trainers for several BTX and filler product lines. They frequently deliver lectures and conduct workshops on effective and safe BTX administration in the Asia Pacific region. Near-painless injections are possible at Picasso Plastic Surgery with the use of a proprietary pain distraction device at the time of injection.
The effects of BTX generally take 1 to 3 days to be observed, and will last between 4 to 6 months. The effects of BTX injection are not permanent, and it will be necessary to receive subsequent injections to maintain its effect.
Individuals are advised to avoid vigorous massage to the treatment area for 2 hours following the injection, to prevent spread of the BTX resulting in potential unintended adjacent muscle paralysis. Individuals may resume their usual activities immediately following the procedure.
