Dr Matthew Yeo is the medical director of Picasso Plastic Surgery in Singapore. He has attained Singapore and European board certifications in plastic surgery and has been a Ministry of Health-accredited plastic surgeon since the year 2012. He strives to deliver exquisite, tasteful and bespoke results and patients know him to deliver warm and personal care. He is experienced in aesthetic and reconstructive care and is delivers the whole range of treatments including non-surgical treatments and surgery.
Dr Yeo has trained with some of the biggest international names in plastic surgery and brings an amalgamation of decades of expertise and experience from his mentors into his clinical practice. Dr Yeo is passionate about art and has a keen eye for the aesthetic, and develops this in tandem with plastic surgery.
Education, Qualifications & Awards
Dr Yeo graduated with his basic medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 2002. He completed Basic Specialty Training in 2007 and Advanced Specialty Training (Plastic Surgery) in 2012. He was awarded the Gold Medal (Plastic Surgery) by the College of Surgeons, Singapore in 2013 for his performance at the national plastic surgery board examinations. In 2013, he received the Health Manpower Development Program award from the Ministry of Health and completed a one-year fellowship in Advanced Reconstructive Microsurgery in Taiwan, Republic of China, under the mentorship of world-renowned-Professor Hung-Chi Chen.
In 2015, he was conferred Fellow of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons following successful completion of its board examinations. He has since undergone multiple fellowships in some of the biggest international names in plastic surgery in Australia, Belgium, South Korea, Taiwan ROC, Thailand and the United States of America.
Dr Yeo has mentored many plastic surgery trainees and has served as core clinical faculty member and is also a Residency Advisory Committee member (Plastic Surgery) with the Ministry of Health. He continues to contribute his experience and expertise as a visiting consultant plastic surgeon at Singapore General Hospital and Changi General Hospital in areas of aesthetic surgery and reconstructive surgery. Dr Yeo is a trainer for botulinum toxin and fillers for various companies.
Academic Appointments & Achievements
Dr Yeo holds an adjunct associate professor appointment at the Nanyang Technological University. He has multiple academic peer-reviewed publications and is an Editorial board member and reviewer for various journals, including Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, one of the most prominent professional medical journals for plastic surgeons. He holds several patents and grants in relation to wound healing research, breast reconstructive surgery and virtual reality medical training.
Professional Appointments
Dr Yeo was elected as Chairman, Chapter of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, College of Surgeons, Singapore (CSS) between 2016 and 2019. He also served as Board Member for the CSS between 2016 and 2019.
In 2020, he was elected as National Secretary for the elite International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. He also serves on the Faculty of Medical Experts (Plastic Surgery) for the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. Dr Yeo is a member of the Residency Advisory Committee (Plastic Surgery), Ministry of Health, whose role is to oversee plastic surgery training in Singapore, and has also previously served as a core clinical faculty member for plastic surgery residency training program.
Dr Yeo is a Fellow of the European Board of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, and also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore. These are organizations that admit only bona fide plastic surgeons and specialists upon completion of a formal multi-year specialty training program.
Dr Yeo is a member and National Secretary of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, a group of elite plastic surgeons that is committed to delivering quality care and patient safety. He is also a member of the Singapore Association of Plastic Surgeons and Singapore Society of Cosmetic (Aesthetic) Surgeons.
Dr Yeo is a member of Breast Reconstruction Awareness (Singapore), this is a group of plastic surgeons who are dedicated to advocacy of post-mastectomy breast reconstruction as part of routine breast cancer care and recovery.
Dr Yeo’s key clinical interest in aesthetic practice include facial rejuvenation (non-surgical and surgical), breast aesthetic surgery and body contouring surgery (including post-weight loss contouring).
Dr Yeo also has extensive experience with reconstructive surgery of the head and neck, breast and extremities. He is known for his work in functional reconstruction of the tongue and pharynx, and has performed pioneering procedures in these areas. He is adept at breast reconstruction and delivers tasteful and exquisite results by combining aesthetic sensibility and reconstructive surgery principles.
In the field of lower extremity reconstruction, Dr Yeo exhibits his mastery by salvaging of some of the most complex cases from amputation (diabetic ulcers and sarcoma tumor surgery).
Dr Yeo contributes his experience and expertise as a visiting consultant plastic surgeon at Singapore General Hospital and Changi General Hospital in areas of aesthetic surgery and reconstructive surgery.
